Your interest in reducing your distress is a really big step: well done! What can I do to help? We will start by finding out what is currently happening, then review your history and identify problematic symptoms. Before the end of the first session, we’ll also discuss what’s helped and what hasn't, what is making it worse, and then clarify a goal (tied to what it would look like if things were better).

As far as approaches to help people achieve their goals, the evidence-based interventions I most often utilize include Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I also have great familiarity with other popular protocols, including EMDR, Polyvagal Theory and Harm Reduction (for substance use concerns). All of these techniques, modalities, and interventions have something to offer and I strive to determine which one(s) will help you.
